Apps to use when traveling and staying in Mongolia

Hi there, it's Minami.

In this article, we will introduce some of the applications that we were able to use while traveling in Inner Mongolia, especially in and around Ulaanbaatar, the capital city of Mongolia.

Apps for global use

First of all, it is an application that is often used globally.

Google maps

After all, having google map is a relief, isn't it?

But honestly, if you stay in a ger or something, it's more so that you know where to go because you're going to be in the wilderness where you don't have an address,

You can also find hotels. You can also find good restaurants!

Airbnb

Airbnb is now a very popular service for international travel in the modern era.

Of course, it can also be used in Mongolia.

I actually looked for pasture lodging in a ger when I went to Mongolia and also in the city center, Ulaanbaatar.

Probably want to keep costs a bit lower, e.g. traveling alone! Hostels are fine! I have found airbnb to be a great place to get a wide range of rooms at a good price with good service!

Expedia

As noted in the airbnb section above.

However, I am not very good at the Expedia system and would prefer not to use it if possible, but of course it can be used in Mongolia.

If you want to find a general hotel or hostel, by all means.

Instagram

I can't say for sure because social networking sites go in and out of fashion, but I'll still be using Instagram at least around 2023.

I can also get tour-related information on Instagram.

By the way, my recommended horseback riding tour account isthis account.

local application

I only have this one, but I will tell you anyway.

UBCub

UBCub is like a Mongolian version of Uber, an app that dispatches cabs and other vehicles.

This is very convenient because you can freely come and go without Mongolian if you have one, but as you can see in the picture, you need a Mongolian cell phone number to use it.

Yes.

You will need at least a SIM card within Mongolia!

I did not use this as a hurdle.

I arrived in Mongolia early in the morning and could not buy a SIM card at the airport. I could have bought one in town, but the procedure was a bit cumbersome + I had to go to the mall, so I ended up quitting.
