5 mistakes beginners make when they first start a vegetable garden.

Hello everyone. It's Minami.

Many articles on home gardening tell you all about the sparkling things, but I think it's hard to share failure stories.

So, I thought I'd share with you some of the things that I, not being a very hard-core gardener, have learned, especially the rudiments? I'm not a very hardcore gardener, so I thought I'd share with you some of the things I've learned, especially the rudiments, and some of which you might know if you've gardened at home for a long time!

I was giving him rice water for a mistake.

You might think that the water from washing rice is good for plants, right? Actually, it is not.

I was also told by my family that rice water is good for plants because it contains a lot of nutrients. So, as an extension of that, I gave the water I used to wash rice to plants.

To be honest, when I first started feeding the plants with the water, they seemed to be growing well, but gradually (just an illusion, now that I think about it), something like white powder started blowing on the surface of the soil.

I wondered what it was, fertilized...? I thought so, but after a while, the first generation of dill I was growing died (tears).

This is actually like a substance called phosphorus in the soil that gives too many nutrients to the soil and conversely causes the plants there to rot.

In fact, environmental pollution is also caused by too much nutrients in the air and water.

After realizing this, I began to give only basic water to the plants when I watered them.

The condition of the soil has a huge impact on the plants, so we have to be careful!

I watered them during the day in hot weather and they died.

I've done this before. (This article is only about failures I've done in the first place.)

I overslept on a hot summer day and watered the plants because the soil was dry when the fire had already climbed high.

Then, for some reason, the plants died, even though I was watering them.

The reason for this is that even if cold water is sprinkled, the heat of the sun turns it into boiling water.

In recent years, I feel that summers are especially hot and humid, so I have to be even more careful in raising water.

Take care everyone!

If you overslept, water a lot at night!

The strong and weak life forces were starved together, and the weak ones withered away.

This is a problem of planting together.

For example, I once planted a very delicate pak choi next to a vigorous mint, and the pak choi was wiped out.

Conversely, mint was growing rapidly.

Watch out for strong plants invading other weaker plants on their own in the soil!

When planting with seedlings that are growing too well, it may not be a problem if you at least give them more space than usual.

Or, it is good to plant with something that you are willing to let die.

Although top matching itself can be a good thing in some cases, be aware that one strong thing can make you buoyant.

(Simply) I bought only things that required a lot of time and effort without researching them beforehand, and they didn't last long.

I think this is because of my lack of knowledge, but there was a time when I was away from vegetable gardening for a while because I tried to grow only delicate things and could not grow them well and most of them died.

For example, when you try to grow green onions, you may find that the green onions are covered with aphids, and you may think that it would be better to buy them at the supermarket.

I realized that regenerative cultivation of leeks is more difficult than I thought.

By the way, what is regenerative cultivation? If you are wondering, please read the following.

I hope you all welcome a home garden life that fits your personality, too!

Personally, I recommend mint as it is surprisingly useful and grows to some extent even if left alone lol.

I bought chemical fertilizer for my vegetable garden.

This one, well, it depends on where you want to go, but my personal regret is that I used chemical fertilizers.

I used liquid fertilizer to make it grow well even though it is a vegetable garden.

But if you want to eat big, good-looking vegetables and other foods using chemical fertilizers, you can find plenty at the supermarket.

Since many people go to the trouble of making their own food, they may want to make it safe and secure, don't they?

Chemical fertilizers certainly make vegetables grow stronger and bigger, but it would be nice to try growing them organically.

Organic fertilizers include the method of doing compost.

It may be a little more work, but why not give it a try?

How was the article?

I hope you all can live the vegetable garden life without a little bitterness like I did!

I hope this was of some help!
