[Withered by the rainy season and heat] 2019 veranda cultivation ~ July ~ [Home vegetable garden diary]

Hi there, it's Minami.

Hello, my name is Minami. This time, continuing from the formerJuly report, I would like to continue with our report on the status of our home garden.

I like to try a lot of different things, so even if I get too many of each, I have trouble consuming them, so I grow a variety of things little by little.

 So here you go.

blueberry

As you can see from the first photo on this blog, there are really a lot of blueberries to eat.

Surprisingly, all the fruits were set at once, but when it was time to harvest them, they were broken up, so we didn't have to take too many at once to eat them.

I think blueberries can really be recommended for home gardening.

Personally, I think blueberries are an excellent fruit that doesn't get dirty even if you eat them by hand, so I think they taste best when they're chilled in the refrigerator and eaten as is.

Raspberry

The raspberries are still going strong.

It's very easy to manage this year because there are no bugs. Compared to the previous year, the seeds fell to the ground and seedlings grew, so we had a good harvest this year too. There's no shortage of yogurt garnishes this time of year.

However, I think raspberries will get bugs at first, but as a rule of thumb, they will only tolerate them at first. By the way, we don't use any pesticides or fertilizers. Even if you give it up, it is only the broth that comes out when you sharpen the rice. All that's left is water.

Overgrown beetroot

I planted the beets too close together and this is what happened.

We recommend you to plant beets and other root crops with a gap between them.

Because the fruit does not grow at all.

Incidentally, I also recommend cutting the top leaves of the beets and making them into a salad. It's delicious. Since the stems are also red, the color becomes better and it is two birds with one stone.

Sanchu is getting high.

If you leave it too long, it will grow to the top. By the way, the seeds I bought are the seeds of the zebra lettuce.

It doesn't look like a lettuce anymore when it comes to this point.

I'm thinking I won't have to grow them again next year. After all, I don't like it because it's a little too bitter. Is the zebra lettuce grown in other families not bitter?

I'd like to make it something I eat regularly next time. After all, I would like to use only lettuce or herbs, such as large leaves, for leafy vegetables.

Mint

Mint continues to carry her fluffy body hair on her back as she did last month.

Normally, it's cold in the winter and it seems to produce body hair, but for some reason my mint produces body hair in the summer.

I didn't use it much this summer, but I use it a lot in winter, so I water it frequently.

Pak choi and komatsuna are...

The peaches have withered away. The cause is unknown. Please let me know if there is anyone who knows.

Probably, I think that the slow rainy season and the intense heat that followed were the reasons for the poisoning.

I've heard that peaches grow only with moisture in the soil.

I still have some seeds, so I'm going to try to plant another one soon.

The komatsuna that I planted last month for regeneration has also withered away.

Komatsuna has also withered away. Normally, regenerative cultivation doesn't cause the plants to wither without anything happening immediately, but it may be due to the poor soil condition.

I had just cleaned the lettuce at this time, and there were many aphids in the lettuce, so they may have been nourished by the remnants of the aphids. I'm not sure if it's correct because it's speculation.

How was the article?

I think it's really nice to be able to grow things in my garden that I wouldn't normally be able to keep in a supermarket or something like that.

Recently, I want to grow new avocados, but it will take a long time to grow them because they will become a tree, so I don't think I can take care of them until they bear fruit, but I want to grow them for interior decoration.

So, I'll see you in my next home garden diary.
