The joy of harvesting and eating! April 2024 [mint, rosemary, wild berries, and pak choi
Hi there, it's Minami.
This is a home garden diary for March 2024.
I like to experiment with many different kinds of herbs and other usable and edible plants, and since I don't want to consume too many of each, I grow a small variety of each type.

repurchase of dill
One highlight of the month was the re-buying of dill.
I used to make a lot of dill around 2019 and 2020 when I started this blog, but it faded out before I knew it.
I like dill because it is delicious on fish dishes such as salmon or on top of soups, so I hope to be able to grow it well this year.
My love for dill is just too much and I also wrote down an article about that. You can checkby clicking to see another article.
More wood panels
In my last article, I wrote about how I could only buy so much stock at Celia, and I bought a wood deck from Amazon, which I researched while I was there.
As a result, the wood on the left in the photo is from Celia, and the large area on the right is what I bought from the above link on Amazon.
In conclusion, you can definitely buy it on Amazon.Clicking herewas much better!
That is to say,
1: Celia has to install one panel at a time, but while it is flexible and can handle a small area, it is labor intensive if you want to arrange many panels on a large site. 4 panels come in one and are attached together, so the actual labor is a quarter of the effort.
2: Good color and gloss
3: If you buy more than 20 sheets, the total is no longer cheaper than buying at Celia for 110 yen per sheet.

Lush herbs!
In April, the weather suddenly began to warm up around the end of March, and the green color of the herbs' leaves became stronger and darker!
Sage is growing surprisingly well! (Not sure how I'm going to use it yet)
Maybe the best timing for herb-based products is to grow them a little before winter. Especially in areas where there are many insects and animals...
I have a few pak choi plants here, but for some reason the bamboo is not growing as long as the other potted plants. Is it the compatibility of the planting combination?
Perhaps the mint root next to it is too strong and has encroached into the area where the pak choi is located.
Rosemary remains strong.
Pak Choi & wild berries (wild strawberries) are growing in spring
The pak choi and wild strawberries are planted in a pot together and have grown considerably in one month.
The top photo is from early April and the bottom photo is from late April!
The pak choi is growing so well that it has a shape I have never seen before!
I learned that wild strawberries also grow surprisingly well in hot weather.
Let's use it as an ingredient. Taco version
I gratefully ate the pak choi in my tacos... twice.

Buying pak choi at the supermarket is surprisingly expensive, and the quantity is so large that you end up with a little extra, so having pak choi growing in your garden is a great way to get fresh, tasty, adjustable quantities of pak choi whenever you want!

If you eat tacos, jalapeños are a must. My favorite taco Youtuber isGenの炊事場(Gens Bookshelf Cafeteria).
I'm planning to grow jalapenos, too...the jalapeno sauce from KALDI is fine, but I think the ones in cans are delicious!
Lavender also lasts longer
Lavender is a flower that I initially purchased to repel insects, but I am happy to say that it has lasted quite a while.
The colors of the flowers are also beautiful because they are cold and different from the colors we usually see in gardening.
Lavender is quite recommended for home and garden use!
